Short itinerary:

Day 1: Sofia Airport morning arrival – Koprivshtitsa museum town– Plovdiv

Day 2: Plovdiv – Bachkovo monastery – Chudnite Mostove  – Stoykite village

Day 3: Stoykite – Shiroka Luka museum village – Trigrad gorge ( possible jeep tour ) – Bansko museum town

Day 4: Bansko – a day dedicated to Pirin mountain National Park ( UNESCO site )

The region has plenty of opportunities for trekking, hiking or walking, beautiful pine forests, among which is the oldest pine tree in Bulgaria with over 1300 years of existence – Baikusheva Mura.

Day 5: Bansko – Rila Monastery – 7 Rila Lakes – Borovets

Day 6: Borovets – Yastrebets – Musala hut – Musala peak ( 2925 m )- Borovets

Day 7: Borovets – Iskar Dam – Sofia ( tour ) – farewell dinner.

Day 8: Sofia – departure transfer

Mountains constitute a significant part of Bulgaria and are dominant in the southwest and central parts of the country. Some of the most popular regions for walking/ hiking and trekking are located in Rila (highest peak Musala, 2925 m/ 9596 ft; the highest in the Balkans), Pirin and the Rhodopes massif. They are rich in mountain lakes, forests, flora and fauna, nature reserves, beautiful caves, deep gorges, as well as authentic villages, often declared architecture reserves and museums.
